Percy’s Playground is named in honour of Harry Percival Lyons
A colourful circus performer and publican of The Stirling Arms in the 1870s, Harry Percival Lyons brought joy, spectacle, and excitement to Guildford.
Harry transformed The Stirling Arms into a lively hub of entertainment — hosting fireworks, pony races, and even circus acts on these very grounds.
His legacy is one of joy, laughter, and community — and that’s exactly what Percy’s will continue to be.
